ACUPUNCTURE AND CLASSICAL CHINESE MEDICINE:
For over 3,000 years people have been utilizing the healing techniques of Chinese medicine. Based on the principles of balance and harmonious flow between Yin and Yang, Chinese medicine seeks to optimize health and resolve illness within an individual’s body, mind and spirit. It’s most well-known application is acupuncture, a safe and proven technique for reducing pain and restoring vitality. Acupuncture involves the use of very thin, sterile, single-use needles, which are inserted into the skin to regulate and harmonize the flow of qi (pronounced “chee”), the life-giving energy of the body-mind. Other Chinese medicine modalities with demonstrated efficacy include Chinese herbal therapy, Qigong (i.e. “Energy Exercise”), Shiatsu Massage, Moxibustion, Cupping/Gua Sha, and mild electrostimulation (TENS unit).
